REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALI -- Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, encouraged regional heads to participate in promoting tourism sector in the region. He said that tourism is one of the leading sectors to stimulate the economic growth.

"The next door is cultural industry or creative economy that relies on services. It provide higher value, and the tourism sector is one of it," said Arief in the Meeting of the Regional Cooperation Forum Governor of Mitra Praja Utama (FKD-MPU) XV in Bali, Saturday (3/10) night.

Arief stated that he would not refuse areas who want to build an industrial estate. It was because the area had to support and accommodate the growing number of unemployment.

To meet the country's future and to compete with other countries in the world, he said, Indonesia would have to create creative economy. If the regional heads was wrong in issuing a policy, then the impact will be felt in the next 5-10 years.

"The door is through tourism and financial services," he added.
