REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANGUI -- Indonesian Military, members of the Task Force of Engineer Company, Garuda Contingent XXXVII-B/Minusca led by Lieutenant Colonel Czi Denden Sumarlin as Commander of Task Force carried out fixing of road access 1,500 meters in Central Africa. The road was connecting Ngonggono village and Area Super Camp Minusca toward Bangui-M'poko, International Airport, capital city of Central African Republic, Sunday (20/9).

Airport was a vital facility for Central Africa's people and became supply lines for the Capital City of Central African Republic. It also became important for International missions, including the mission of the United Nations (UN).

Roads access to Bangui-M'poko International Airport was severely damaged and perforated. If it rained a lot, there would be puddles of water which affected the traffic flow towards important pathways, particularly pathways towards M'Poko airport that has only one path that is A'Venue d'Martys.

According to Lt. Col. Czi Denden Sumarlin, the roads which were currently under construction of Indonesian Military, were alternative paths that would lead directly into the city core.

"This road will be used laterite as the main material. During this time, the roads can only be passed by two-wheeled vehicles," he said.

The roads would be prepared as alternative evacuation routes, and are also expected to be used by people around the airport and humanitarian agencies who will provide relief to refugees around the airport runway.

"Hopefully after improvement, the community can also use the road access, both in the summer and the rainy season," he added.
