REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Head of Ministry of Religious Affairs Office of East Java, Mahfud Sodar, reported that in Hajj 2015, there were 28,676 people departed from Surabaya embarkation. However, of a total pilgrims, 187 people failed to depart.
"They canceled to leave due to a number of factors, such as pregnancy, illness, until passing away before leaving," said Mahfud, in a press release received by Republika in Surabaya, Thursday (17/9).
Mahfud prayed to those who departed to be able to pass Hajj pilgrimage with a healthy condition from beginning to come back into the country.
Deputy Governor of East Java, Saifullah Yusuf, reminded the Indonesian pilgrims, especially those who were from Surabaya embarkation, to set a good pattern for their worship. The reason was because current weather in Saudi Arabia was fairly extreme than the previous Hajj seasons.
According to Saifullah, the weather was unpredictable. It was sometimes hot and then cold. To face such weather condition, he advised that the pilgrims must be able to adapt and do the worship according to their own capability.
"Based on statistics compiled every year, pilgrims who died mostly occurred after Wukuf at Arafat," he added.
