Visibility at 100 meters in West Sumatera due to smog

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Limapuluh Kota, Nasriyanto, said smog that spread in his area, makes limited  visibility at 100 meters. According to him, the smog on Saturday (19/9) was the worst in 2015.

"The air quality is getting worse by the day in Limapuluh Kota. The haze grew thicker, this is the worst," he said, Saturday (19/9).

He explained, local BPBD has coordinated with the Environment Agency, via radio to ask the public to reduce outdoor activities. If they were forced to leave the house, they should always wear masks. The local government has distributed approximately 200 thousand masks to the public.

Meanwhile, one of the residents of Situjuah, Limapuluh Kota, Fajar (29 years old), said that the smog in his area on Saturday was thicker than usual. In fact, he said, the visibility was only about 50 to 100 meters.

"This is the most severe since a few weeks," he said.
