REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu, revealed that Indonesian Military (TNI) will add two thousand personnel to protect Natuna waters in Riau Islands.

"We do not only add the defense equipment in Natuna, but also the number of military personnel," said Ryamizard, during his visit to Natuna Island, Riau Islands, Wednesday (16/9).

The addition of military personnel came from a number of elite troops in the Indonesian military, such as Special Corps of Air Force, Marine Corps of Navy and Raider of Army. Natuna will be protected by one Special Corps of Air Force, two Raiders of Army, and two Marine Corps of Navy.

"The Raider placed in Natuna is a plus Raider forces, which are able to use 'sea rider' and able to pass a battle at sea," said Ryamizard.

Besides Natuna Island, border of Marauke, Maluku, Tarakan, the area between Sulawesi and Kalimantan will also be strengthened the defense equipment and the military personnel. He said that the Military will give knowledge to a total of 85 thousand population in Natuna Island, to defend the country.

"Because this is a border area, Natuna must be the first area to be equipped to defend the country, the people will be trained," he added.
