Cooperation between LPS and Perbanas strengthen banking stability

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Bank Association (Perbanas), on Wednesday (9/9). Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of LPS C. Heru Budiargo and Chairman of the Perbanas Sigit Pramono directly signed it.

Both institutions were planning to cooperate in maintaining stability of financial and banking system through various initiatives and activities. It included, reviewing, sharing, dissemination, and education.

"I hope this cooperation can be a positive energy, to create a strong banking industry," said Secretary of LPS, Samsu Adi Nugroho, through a press release, Saturday (12/9).

Previously, LPS released data on growth in total deposits of July 2015. From the data, the total value of deposits in July increased by Rp 3,681 billion or 0.08 percent (MoM). Total deposits until the end of July were Rp 4,415,367 billion.

Based on the types of deposits (current accounts, savings, deposits on call, time deposits, and certificates of deposit), deposit on call was the highest growth in 5.81 percent (MoM). The number of accounts also increased from 3,564 accounts in June to 3,771 in July 2015.
