Indonesian woman worker from Bangkalan passes away in Malaysia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANGKALAN -- An Indonesian woman worker, named Masripah (50 years old) passed away in Malaysia. Masripah, who was a citizen of Keleyan Village, Socah, Bangkalan, East Java, reportedly died due to disease. She passed away on Friday (4/9) and her body had arrived home on Sunday (6/9) night.

"We actually found out, after the victim's body arrived in Bangkalan," said Head of Supervision of Bangkalan Department of Social Labor and Transmigration, Anang Safroni, Monday (7/9) night.

Masripah had worked in Malaysia for 10 years as a housekeeper. She became migrant workers through official channels.

According to her family, Moh Zahri, Masripah's family already knew that she had passed away in Malaysia, based on information from the Manpower Service that was dispatching Masripah to Malaysia in 2005.

"When the body arrived, there was no officers from Bangkalan Department of Social Labor and Transmigration," said Zahri.

Previously, in July 2011, a migrant worker named Rofiah (40) from Kampung Moncek, Tengket Village, Arosbaya, Bangkalan, Madura, also died at work in Malaysia.
