REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Brawijaya Regional Military Command V and Airlangga University plans to hold a main armament system exhibition in Surabaya, East Java, on September 5 and 6.

The two-day expo will take place in the soccer field of the university's campus C at Mulyorejo Street in Surabaya, the Spokesman for the Brawijaya Regional Military Command, Lt. Col. Heriyadi, said in a press statement released on Saturday.

The exhibition, which is being held to mark the 70th anniversary of Indonesia's independence, will display a Leopard 2A4 Tank, a Marder Tank, a Scorpion Canon 90 Tank, a Stormer Tank, an Anoa Armored Vehicle, a Panhard Armored Vehicle, a Tarantula Armored Vehicle and a wide range of combat weapons.

"Through the exhibition we want to inform the public of the developments in the Indonesian military's main armament system, as well as to account for the use of the military budget to improve professionalism and main armament systems of the Indonesian military," he said.

He expressed hope that the exhibition would serve as a means of education for the public in the military field and will increase the patriotism of the public, particularly students.

"We also hope that through the exhibition, we can introduce the Indonesian military's weapons and share the fighting spirit of soldiers with students so that they feel inspired to contribute to national progress," he said.
