REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Finance, Bambang PS Brodjonegoro, stated that the decline of the exchange rate has an impact on people's purchasing power. Currently, the exchange rate is around Rp 14,050 per US dollar.
"The purchasing power is affected due to the weakening of rupiah, that also has impact on inflation. It also affects the imported goods,” he said, Tuesday (25/8).
Bambang explained, the economic conditions in the global market that are not conducive, caused an increase in imported goods prices.
Therefore, he suggested that people should try not to buy or consume the imported goods. He encouraged people to choose domestic products.
"This is the best time for us to buy and consume domestic goods, because purchasing imported goods is considered as burdensome,” he added.
