REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- Lembata district in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has annual event titled "Rally Wisata Bahari". One of the agenda in the event is Nuhanera Maritime Festival 2015.
The event which took place from 22nd to 27th August 2015 is expected to encourage economic growth through marine tourism. The event is also to promote Waienga Bay as new destination that provides world class underwater.
"Scenery under the sea in the Waienga Bay is so beautiful. It surrounded by 14 coastal villages, but people should not spread the nets or use bombs for cathcing fishes. They care about nature," said Head of Culture and Tourism of Lembata district, Longinus Lega, in the launching of "Nuhanera Maritime Festival", on Thursday (21/8).
Longinus said, the bay has long coastline of up to 91 kilometer. The bay offers underwater paradise for tourists, for snorkeling or diving.
"Every week there is at least one Phinisi entrance of Bali for diving," Longinus added.
The series of activities in Nuhanera Maritime Festival 2015 will be filled with various events, including a traditional boat rowing race, bay swimming, fishing mania (fun fishing), boats and marine motors parade, traditional art performances, and underwater photo contest.
"The community of photographers are invited to exploit the nature and culture in Lembata. The photos will be exhibited in Jakarta," he said.
