REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Development Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil said an infrastructure deputy would be reinstalled at the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas).

Sofyan Djalil, who is also head of Bappenas, said the board needs a deputy to be in charge of infrastructure projects.

One of the duties of the deputy is to ensure that feasibility studies of infrastructure projects are finished a year before the fiscal year for the projects, he said.

President Joko Widodo wants all administrative matters including feasibility studies should be all wrapped up before the fiscal year to prevent delay in implementation.

"In principle we still need a deputy to be in charge of infrastructure projects to ensure the target would be reached," Sofyan Djalil said here on Wednesday.

He said, for that purpose he would propose revision of the presidential decree No. 65 and No. 66 in 2015 on the national development planning ministry and Bappenas.

The plan to reinstall the infrastructure deputy could take place in two months , Sofyan said.

President Joko Widodo has been informed of the plan, he said.

He said an official would be selected to hold the post of infrastructure deputy.

Sofyan said the process of reinstalling the deputy would not affect the performance of Bappenas.

So far the duty related to infrastructure has been divided between by eight existing deputies at Bappenas.

Previously Bappenbas had such deputy called deputy for facility and infrastructure overseeing five infrastructure directorates.

Former National Development Planning Minister/head of Bappenas, abolished the post of the facility and infrastructure deputy under program of organizational streamlining.

The organizational streamlining program was determined with a presidential decree No. 65 and No. 66 in 2015.
