"Hong Kong and Macau are two of China's special administrative regions, which have so far served as hubs for global financial services. They are hubs for business centers in Asia and act as gateways for products entering China," he said on Monday.

Indonesia can use Hong Kong as a gateway for its mainstay products entering the Chinese market. "The Indonesian Consulate General has always tried to serve as a bridge for Indonesian businesses and help them market their mainstay products in China," he added.

Indonesian products have flooded the Hong Kong market through consumer and food products for a long time ago. Indonesian goods are sold at not only supermarkets, but also convenient stores, such as 7 Eleven and Circle K in Hong Kong.

In order to increase Indonesian product promotions in Hong Kong and Macau, the Indonesian consulate general is collaborating with the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC) and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).

The consulate general has also facilitated Indonesian businesses while carrying out promotions in Hong Kong's and Macau's trade exhibitions.

"Hong Kong always organizes international scale trade exhibitions, which are attended by potential buyers and sellers from across the world," he said.

He added that the Indonesian consulate general would continue to make efforts to take the opportunity of the potential market in Hong Kong so that Indonesian products make their presence felt in not only the Hong Kong market, but also China as a whole.

"Through Hong Kong, Indonesian products can also penetrate the global market," the consul general added.
