‘Mabugi` as theme for Toraja International Festival 2015

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Toraja International Festival (TIF) will be held from 13th to 16th August 2015 in Rantepao, North Toraja, with ‘Mabugi’ (Toraja pop art) as a theme. Some international musicians will be performed to enliven the event.

"As an international event, TIF aims to bring various art groups and art forms in the world to Toraja,” said Marketing communicaton (Marcom) Manager of TIF, Prity Saraswati.

Prity explained that TIF 2015 is the third year of the international event held in Toraja. This year, TIF 2015 will present foreign musicians from a number of countries.

International musicians that will be presented are Gotrasawala Ensemble and Ana Alcaide (Spain), BoiAkih (Netherlands), Ron Reeves (Australia), Helga Sedli (Hungary), and Yzbegim Yoshlari (Uzbekistan). Meanwhile, local participants who will be performed is a group of young people in Jakarta, 'Konokini'.

"By bringing famous music groups, TIF is expected to become new focus of the world and the media," she hoped.

Besides music performance, TIF 2015 will also show arts performance from Toraja, namely ‘Mabugi’.

"Mabugi is a colossal series of dances and songs packed in a very unique theatrical form. Mabugi can be found only in Rantepao," said Prity.

TIF 2015 will show Karombi, Manganda, Menimbong, Pageludan Pompang, and also as non-traditional music groups such as Toraja Toraja Choir and Tibaen Ballo.
