Police to question Industry Ministry officials over storage time case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Investigators of the Jakarta Police are scheduled to question two officials of the Industry Ministry over allegations of accepting bribes and gratuities.

This action concerns the case related to storage time at Tanjung Priok Container Port in North Jakarta.

"The summons to interrogate the officials of the Industry Ministry on Tuesday, August 11, was filed today (August 10)," Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal said here on Monday.

Iqbal pointed out that investigators will question Kayam, who served as the acting director of basic chemical industries of the ministry's directorate general of chemical, textile and miscellaneous industries.

In addition, the special taskforce of investigators of the Jakarta Police will also grill the director of technology of the Industry Ministry over the allegations of corruption in the storage time case.

So far, the police have arrested five suspects, which include the Trade Ministry's non-active director general of foreign trade, Partogi Pangaribuan, and the head of the sub-directorate of non-import capital goods of the directorate general of foreign trade, Imam Aryanta.

They also arrested Musyafa, a freelance worker of the Trade Ministry, as well as businessmen and importers, Mingkeng and Lusi.
