REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said the production of the country's small manufacturing industries rose 4.5 percent on-year in the second quarter of this year.
BPS chief Suryamin attributed the increase mainly to paper and paper product industry, which recorded a strong growth of 23.44 percent in the April June period this year.
The machine and equipment industry , which grew 15.97 percent and electrical equipment industry which grew 12.69 percent also contributed to the expansion recorded by the small manufacturing industries, he told reporters here on Monday.
A decline in production was recorded for timber , timber goods, plaited rattan down 6.34 percent, transport equipment down 4.66 percent and non metal mining down 3.92 percent.
"The production of small industries rose 5.09 percent quarter to quarter in the second quarter," Suryamin said.
