REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Commission II of House of Representatives (DPR) Rambe Kamarul Zaman, suggested that the General Elections Commission (KPU) to assign the status quo for the region that still has a single candidate for the simultaneous local elections. The status quo was set up until the government completed to find solutions of the condition.

"Instead, give first the status quo for the regions that has not had at least two candidates for the elections. Don’t immediately decide the simultaneous local elections postponed until 2017. Please wait the solution," said Rambe when contacted by ROL, on Friday, July 31.

According to him, KPU was in a position to ask for advice the government to find solutions for a single candidate. Parliament chairman, he said, had an agenda to search for solutions with the President.

"Factions in the parliament immediately discuss the solution of single candidate after 18th August," continued Rambe.

Being asked about the estimated time required by Parliament to find a solution, Rambe could not provide certainty. He simply asserted the discussion of candidate to be done soon by the Parliament.

Previously, KPU said it has to coordinate with the Home Affairs Ministry related to the way out for the regions with a single candidate. Parliament chairman, Setya Novanto, said he would summon KPU to discuss the problem faced by these institutions in overcoming single candidate.
