Don’t treat Quran carelessly, MUI says

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) asked that the people and Islamic organizations did not mistakenly interpret the diversity. The appeal was due to the advent of the diversity of activities between Islamic and non-Islamic.

"Yes, it’s different between studying the Quran and jumble the worship," said Chairman of Propagation Division of MUI, Kyai Cholil Nafis told Republika on Tuesday, July 14.

He explained that it was because from some art or event, the beauty of the Quran was not learned, but only used as instruments and art works.

According to him, if you wanted to learn the Quran with the meaning, learn it to people who knew about it. So that no one misunderstood it and did not become misguided thinking. "There is a procedure for holding, read, and understand the Qur'an so that not just anyone to use it," he said.

Cholil said, holding the Quran must be pure the aqeedah and already performed ablution. In addition, to understand it must go through a teacher who taught and obligation to practice it.

Previously, MUI was furious because got photo which spread in the ulema. In the photo it was seen that the worship of non-Muslims with Muslims.

MUI assessed that the religious harmony and recognition of religions did not mean should confound religious teachings in other religious rituals. Therefore, it was feared that it will confound the way of worship that will result in the desecration and blasphemy and humiliate the diversity.

"If it's in the name of tolerance, basically tolerance is still respecting the purity of religion with respect for other religious beliefs," said Cholil.
