Muhammadiyah decides 1st Shawwal on July 17, 2015

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Din Syamsuddin, stated that Muhammadiyah defined 1 Shawwal 1436 Hijri fall on 17 July 2015. It was consistent with the ultimate computation (hisab hakiki) the form of moon (hilal) the Muhammadiyah central executive board’s tarjih (law making) and tajdid (reform).

"Muhammadiyah is already decide because ijtima (the period in which the moon was in between the sun and the earth) end of Ramadan will take place on Thursday at 08:26, and the time of sunset on the day the moon had not been burdened over the horizon, located at an altitude of about 3 degrees," said Din Syamsuddin after the event Indonesian Astrology Colloqium in The Muhammadiyah Da'wah Center, Menteng, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 14.

He said that Thursday night was the takbir night. The next day, Friday, July 17 2015 has entered a new month, the month of Shawwal that marks the Eid al-Fitr.

The decision of Eid from the government could be the same if the new moon (hilal) was visible of more than two degrees, but otherwise there may be differences of Eid celebration in Indonesia.

"It should not be exaggerated, Insha Allah public can accept it," said Din Syamsuddin.

He added that the determination by the two sides has passed diligence process and through research. Din urged all the Muslims society to accept the holy Eid celebration in high tolerance.
