REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the House of Representative (DPR), Fahri Hamzah said that he was surprised by the attitude of the activists in Indonesia, which supported the wiretapping. Whereas in the other world, mainly in developed countries, the activists was opposing the wiretapping because prone to human rights violations.

"Wiretapping, if it is haphazard and without court decision, is harmful, although it was called in the name of combating corruption though because it can get into human rights violations," said the PKS party politician, on Wednesday, July 8.

Therefore, if it was allowed then there could be misuse of the wiretapping to the interests of the power. According to Fahri, it could be the wiretapping results that should not be used, engineered so that it could be used when the wiretapping did not require the court's permission.

"BIN, in its task, was able to tap anyone, but the results of BIN wiretapping could not be used as evidences and just report it only addressed to president. If it is not regulated, it could have been, the results of BIN will be used by others for the sake of power. The results that should not be used even are able to be used on the basis of the corruption eradication. It's dangerous, the wiretapping should only be done by court order," he said.
