REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Member of the Presidential Advisory Team (Wantimpres) Suharso Monoarfa affirmed that if it is substantiated that a minister had passed insulting remarks against the president, then the concerned individual should be replaced.

"Just replace the minister concerned," Monoarfa stated on Tuesday night.

He claimed to have no knowledge about the minister who had allegedly made a derogatory remark on President Joko Widodo.

The presidential adviser noted that ethically, if the statement is true, then it is inappropriate.

"If someone is appointed by a superior, it means that the superior trusts him or her. So, it is inappropriate for him or her to say that the superior lacks competence," Monoarfa stressed.

He said that a minister is an aide of the president, and so, he or she cannot evaluate his or her superior, as what the president has delegated to him or her is not a responsibility but an authority.

"The performance of the cabinet is the president's responsibility. So, it is incorrect if a cabinet member insults the president," Monoarfa pointed out.

Earlier, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said he was ready to defend the president from any individual who humiliates him.

"As the home affairs minister, I am ready to defend the president from whoever insults the president, as he is the state symbol," the home affairs minister noted.

Kumolo remarked that any form of criticism against the president should be made directly and not through the mass media using inappropriate words.

"Political party leaders and members of the House of Representatives (DPR) are welcome to openly offer inputs and suggestions through the media and the press, but they should not resort to the use of inappropriate words," Kumolo remarked.

The home affairs minister also claimed to have never revealed the name of the minister who is believed to have passed derogatory remarks against President Joko Widodo.

"I have never mentioned any name in front of the press in my statement," he added.
