Tourism Minister to target 10 million foreign tourists ahead of the year-end

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said, tourist arrivals to Indonesia continued to be boosted by the end of this year. According to him, there were at least two momentums which was the crowd’s peak period at travel destinations in the country.

"First, on this holiday. On this July, the peak. Just for the country which have Islam religion, (the foreign tourist arrivals) will decline," said Minister Arief when met at the Tourism Ministry, Medan Merdeka Barat Street, Jakarta, on Monday, June 29.

The second momentum, he continued, i.e. in the period of December 2015 to January 2016. Minister Arief hoped, a variety of promotions of leading tourist destinations in the country will be able to meet the target number of tourists.

"The great possibility, we will get it on the end of the year. Because, there are already impact of our promotion," he said.

Former CEO of PT Telkom Indonesia is targeting, Indonesia will be visited by 10 million foreign tourists and more for domestic tourists. He also pushed the Indonesian people to prefer domestic tourist destinations for vacation.

"Our target, 10 million for the foreign tourists, 255 million for the domestic tourists," he said.
