REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Home Affairs Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo affirmed that the budget for the implementation of local elections in the General Election Commission (KPU) has been completed. Because, all grant funds to support the implementation of the election has been signed between Regional Election Commission (KPUD) with the regional heads. However, there were still problems in the budget of the general elections monitoring body (Bawaslu).

"For Bawaslu per yesterday there are 40s regions have not been completed," said Tjahjo in the parliament complex Senayan, on Thursday, June 25.

The politician of PDIP party said it will continue to conduct the checking of security budget and Bawaslu. The government hoped that the end of this month the entire budget about securing the election was finished. Tjahjo admitted, there were some issues about the uneven budget for the execution of election monitoring. It means, not all regions budgeted the assistance for security.

Today, the House of Representatives held a joint meeting on the implementation of election about security and the settlement of elections disputes. According to Home Affairs Minister,  in a joint meeting also discussed about the budget for security.

Whether to use the budget of the Police Headquarters submitted to the Finance Ministry or left entirely to the regions.

"The regions would have been budgeted, but the amount is not sufficient," said Tjahjo.

Tjahjo added, the security fund in the law, principally was imposed on the regions. However, in fact, this election security funds in each region were different. The amount depends on the population density, the density of voters and local level 2 were included in one package. Moreover, it also depends on each head of his own regions.

"The head of the region that ignores the successful implementation of the elections can be categorized as assault," said Tjahjo.
