REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Asian Development Bank's (ADB's) newly appointed Country Director for Indonesia Steven Tabor is looking forward to enhancing partnership with the Government of Indonesia.
"I am keen to ensure that ADB helps Indonesia achieve its tremendous potential and will closely align ADB's support with the goals and objectives set by the government for long-term development," Tabor stated on Monday.
He has long been a friend of Indonesia, with 30 years of experience in the country's economic development and has previously served as an adviser to Indonesia's development planning agency, agriculture ministry, food logistics board, and national poverty reduction council.
Tabor assumed office on June 9, 2015, and prior to this appointment, he served governments in several countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America on a variety of economic policy topics.
He holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the Free University in Amsterdam, Netherlands; a master's degree in Agricultural Economics and Southeast Asian Studies, and a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, both from Cornell University in New York, the United States.
Tabor is content to be back in Indonesia and is gratified by the tremendous progress that the country has achieved and continues to achieve. Indonesia and ADB have been working together since ADB's founding.
"The policy reforms of last year coupled with the continued emphasis on infrastructure development, food security, energy security, intraregional connectivity, and an improved investment-enabling environment have put the country on a sound fiscal footing, which sets the stage for higher rates of long-term, inclusive growth," he affirmed.
ADB, based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.
