REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MACAU -- PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. has received two Asian Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) 2015, prestigious annual international Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awards program organized by Enterprise Asia in Macau, China.
Sampoerna was a winner under Social Empowerment and Responsible Business Leader categories for its CSR program called "Sampoerna for Indonesia", Paul Janelle, President Director of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk., said in a statement, here, Tuesday.
"This achievement represents not only a recognition but also an encouragement to continue and improve Sampoerna's CSR programs, and we are pleased to have won two prestigious AREA Awards," Janelle noted.
"Sampoerna for Indonesia" focuses on four main pillars, namely access to education, economic opportunity, empowering women and disaster relief and preparedness.
The program also serves as a platform for Sampoerna employees to give back to the communities.
"Sampoerna untuk Indonesia" was created with one ultimate goal, which is to advance the people in Indonesia through our wide range of socially responsible activities in the areas where we operate - be it through economic improvement or community empowerment initiatives," he remarked.
Furthermore, Sampoerna operates its Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center (SETC) which since its inception in 2007 has trained more than 22,000 people and supported the creation of around 3,300 small and medium entrepreneurs around Indonesia.
The company has also formed its own Sampoerna Rescue Team in 2002 to carry out humanitarian missions by responding to natural disasters throughout Indonesia.
