Ministry to ensure local election steps completed

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Home Affairs Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo revealed that there were three regions that have not signed the Agreement Script of Regional Grants (NPHD). The script was a precondition for the local election (Pilkada) funds could be disbursed.

"If I’m not wrong, yesterday afternoon there was still 2-3 area which was not signing," he said via instant message to ROL, Sunday, May 31. However, he did not specify which areas were concerned.

Tjahjo continued, on this time the ministry continues to coordinate with the General Election Commission and the Election Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu) to ensure all the stages ahead of simultaneous local elections run smoothly.

The minister of Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) said, all the areas that will hold simultaneous local elections in 2015 were required to provide the budget for the local elections. Home Affairs Ministry, continued Tjahjo, also has released a circular letter to the local government in order to budget the funds on time so as not to disturb other phases of the elections.

KPU itself has set a time limit on all the areas that will follow the simultaneous local elections in 2015. The slowest areas had to be disbursed elections budgets on June 3. C37
