REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LAGOS -- The police in restive northeast state of Borno on Friday confirmed the killing of six persons when a suicide bomber attacked the venue of a wedding in Tashan Alade town of the state.
State police chief Aderemi Opadokun, who confirmed casualty figure in Maiduguri, the state capital, said up to 30 people were also injured during the attack.
Opadokun said that the police had commenced investigations into the matter.
The police chief told Xinhua that the inauguration of the state governor Kashim Shettima for a second term of office in Maiduguri, was peaceful.
Maiduguri, the State capital of Borno, has been the epicenter of the battle against Boko Haram.
The state is also where about 200 Chibok schoolgirls were abducted and still have not been returned. The state capital has also been subjected to unrelenting attacks and suicide bombings for several years.
