REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARBARU -- Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to inaugurate the Syamsudin Noor Airport expansion project, here, Monday (18/5).
The vice president will be accompanied by Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan and President Director of the airport management company Angkasa Pura I Tomy Soetomo, spokesman of the South Kalimantan transportation office Supian revealed here, Sunday.
Soetomo stated that the terminal of the Syamsudin Noor airport, which is located in Banjarbaru, some 24 kilometers west of Banjarmasin, is being expanded from 6.6 thousand square meters to 125 thousand square meters.
The airport earlier served 1.3 million passengers annually, but last year, the airport received 3.7 million passengers.
On completion of the expansion project, the airport will be able to serve 10 million passengers per year.
