Aceh Governor gives aids to Rohingya Muslims

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- Aceh governor, Zaini Abdullah, handed over food and clothing aids to the Rohingya Muslim citizens which were stranded in the waters of North Aceh.

Three trucks of aids were handed over to the Head of Department Social of Aceh Al Hudri which then delivered directly to the North Aceh.

"Fellow Muslims are brothers. Plight and anguish of them are also part of our lives," Zaini said in the courtyard Hall of Aceh Governor, Banda Aceh, on Thursday, May 15.

Zaini said the spontaneity aid was expected to be channelled as soon as possible because they desperately need it.

"Please this aid has to be immediately delivered and distributed to our brothers who need it," he said.

In addition to groceries, the governor also gave clothing, gloves, bedding, toiletries, and a number of other aids.

Based on data from the Department of Social of Aceh, currently Rohingya Muslims who are accommodated in the Sports Arena (GOR) Lhoksukon, North Aceh, are up to 469 people, consisted of 98 women, 51 children, and the rest are men.

Some of them are currently undergoing medical treatment due to the condition of the body is weak. Hundreds of Rohingya was stranded on the coast of North Aceh, on Sunday.
