REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Health emergency organization Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) Indonesia is completing the construction of Indonesia's Home, locally named Wisma Rakyat Indonesia, in Gaza, Palestine.
Presidium of MER-C Indonesia Dr. Henry Hidayatullah said here on Tuesday that the organization constantly supervises the progress of the construction of hospitals and Wisma Rakyat Indonesia through long-distance communication.
Hidayatullah stated that besides supervising the construction process, MER-C Indonesia also monitors the condition of volunteers and its programs in Gaza.
Programs such as building the Indonesian hospital, supplying medical equipment, constructing Indonesia's Home and dispatching humanitarian aid are being carried out by Indonesians for Palestinians.
Furthermore, Indonesian volunteer in Gaza Edy Wahyudi recently affirmed that all volunteers were in good health.
He added that the medical equipment for the Indonesian hospital were still in the process of being delivered. Some of them were in queue to enter Gaza.
The MER-C center in Jakarta regularly monitors and assists volunteers in Gaza, including supplying, ordering, checking, making payments for medical equipment, as well as installing certain equipment and training local personnel to use it.
Hidyatullah admitted that these tasks were not easy as the volunteers who are still working in Gaza have expertise in engineering and construction, not in the health field.
"However, we believe that with high spirits and dedication, we will get through these difficulties and manage all problems," he emphasized.
