APINDO says economy too slow

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Bussinessman Association (APINDO) expressed disappointment over the government's performance which is still not maximal in the pursuit of economic growth, so that the economic growth of the previous 5.02 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014 became 4.71 percent in the first quarter of 2015. According to Chairman of APINDO, Haryadi Sukamdani, this is very burdensome to businessman.

"This is caused by the measures taken by the ministers of economics does not go well. The sectoral economic policies are not going well. But for structural we are walking to organize it all," he said during a discussion which themed ‘Menunggu Sabda Reshuffle’ at Warung Daun , Cikini, Saturday, May 9.

According to him, today all sectors are not going well, so that the economic team in the Working Cabinet should be immediately evaluated. Moreover, continued Haryadi, within 6 months it is perfectly adequate for President Joko Widodo to do evaluation. Because if not, the government will not be able to pursue the decline in economic growth fall short of the 2011.

"In corporation like us, 2 months are enough to judge. If we judge that person will be a hassle, we have to change them," he added.

Haryadi affirmed that the evaluation must be done because Indonesia is in a condition to compete with other countries for investment matter. If we do not act quickly, the Indonesian economy will lag behind other countries, especially neighboring countries.

"For example, one time we took lightly Vietnam, but now Vietnam has good economic growth. We expect that the President should not waste time, because it involves the competence and development," he said.
