REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa visited landslide victims receiving medical care at Al-Ihsan regional hospital, Bale Endah, Bandung, West Java, on Saturday, May 9.

Minister Khofifah visited two severely injured people, identified as Rukman and Rukhanda, who had been buried during the landslide three days ago. Both victims have been hospitalized since Tuesday, after a landslide occurred in Cibitung hamlet, Margamukti village, Pangalengan sub-district, Bandung, West Java. Besides Rukman and Rukhanda, a number of landslide victims were treated at the hospital, but have been released.

During the visit, the minister also handed out compensation funds for the injured.

Currently, the evacuation of landslide victims is still ongoing and five casualties have been reported. The evacuation team is still looking for four people who remain unaccounted for. After visiting the injured, the Minister also handed over some compensation money from her own fund.

A total of 203 people, or 55 families, remain displaced and are living at a village hall due to landslides that occurred in Pangalengan. The landslide buried eight houses and damaged a gas pipeline belonging to Star Energy Geothermal.
