REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURBALINGGA - Festival Mount Slamet (FGS) will be held on 4-6 June 2015 and it is expected to become an icon of tourism in Purbalingga.
"FGS first time held and centered in Serang Tourism Village, District Karangreja, and travel agenda in Central Java," said Head of Culture Youth and Sports Agency (Dinbudparpora) Purbalingga, Subeno on Friday, May 8.
In fact, he said, FGS will be held in 2016 with the support from Central Java Province government as well as "Dieng Culture Festival" organized by the Government of Banjarnegara.
Chairman of FGS Committee Tridaya Kartika said the festival will popularize Purbalingga tourism and potential of tourist villages in the district, especially Serang tourist village.
"Purbalingga Tourism already reckoned to be part of the tourist destinations in Central Java so that through this festival, it will further strengthen that Purbalingga is a tourist destination," he said.
In addition, he said, FGS also want to emphasize that the tours around Mount Slamet remains safe despite the mountain located between Purbalingga, Pemalang, Tegal, Brebes and Banyumas is still on "Alert".
Furthermore, he said that the FGS began on June 4, 2015, at 6:30 to 12:00 pm, with activities such as water extraction procession of Tuk Sikopyah hereinafter paraded to Serang Village Hall.
"On the sidelines of the event we will also be planting trees along the lane mountain stake of Sikopyah," he said.
