Din Syamsuddin: Long live Inter Milan!

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The awarding Republika’s agents of change 2014 in Djakarta Theater, Thursday (30/4) night, coloured with some funny incident. Among the other things, the closing speech by Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin, he suddenly mentioned about Inter Milan.

"Long live Inter Milan!" shouted the chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), that welcomed by laughter of the audience. Invited guests were present are Head of People's Consultative Council (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan, Chairman of DPD Irman Gusman, Chief of Police General Badrodin Haiti, Chairman of KPK Taufiequrachman Ruki, Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara, Minister of Labour Hanif Dhakiri , Head of Bappenas Andrinof Chaniago, and former Coordinating Minister for political and security law Djoko Suyanto, as well as several other figures.

Din statement is actually not too surprising. The Republika owner who is also President of Inter Milan, Erick Thohir, at that time was on the stage. Erick also handed the trophy for him. Din is one of five recipients of the award, in addition to the mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini, Banyuwangi regent Abdullah Azwar Anas, Bantaeng Regent Nurdin Abdullah, and the originator of the One Day One Juz (ODOJ) Bhayu Subrata and Primary Widodo.

Previously, the host Farhan and Sandra also flicked Erick when invited to go onstage. "Please to the president of Inter, I mean Republika owner, Mr. Erick Thohir," said Farhan.
