REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ahead of Labor Day (Mayday) on May 1, the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly (DPP) Gerindra Party, Ferry Juliantono supports the struggle of workers demanding improvements to the government's fate. However, he insisted that any movement which would be carried out by every labor organization should be done peacefully and sympathetically.

"The normative problems related to the workers are about wages, social security, outsourcing and others. Those should be resolved by the government with a breakthrough policies that is more solutive before this problem becomes a political issue," Ferry Juliantono said in Jakarta, Thursday (30/4).

According to him, the current government should be much more serious to address the important issue of the repair labor. "There can no longer be dealt with laughing, moreover only for imaging. The number of unemployment will increase and poverty will be extended as a result of economic growth, which is likely in my opinion the range is only 5 percent," said Ferry.

He emphasized that in some countries labor policy was very clear. In Japan, for example, the government requires most of its shares to be given to the workers or workers through unions. Report of the company's financial results can also be accessed by employees.

"It can foster a sense of belonging of his work. This relationship is necessary for the industry. In Japan, industrial policy and trade are in line with employment policy," said Ferry.

While in Indonesia, he added, industrial policy, trade and labor seem separate entities. "The workers are just  complement to the patient. I catch a dangerous signal from many sectors of employment if only government responsive to entrepreneurs and capital owners will trigger this problem will exploded because workers are frustrated," said Ferry.

According to him, the Indonesian labor movement inspired many parties. When workers in the Indonesian experiencing difficult times because of liberalization and the high cost of essential goods, they are currently still able to organize better strength and even come to think about social and political issues outside of himself.

"The strength of students, farmers, fishermen and others should take example of this labor force. Gerindra certainly very supportive of the labor movement throughout conducted peacefully. Happy international labor day," said Ferry.
