REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Museum along the Merdeka Barat street in Jakarta is creating a more comfortable atmosphere to attract more visitors, particularly younger people, said its spokesperson Intan Mardiana.

"To make the museum more interesting, we are making every effort to create a more comfortable atmosphere so that we can attract more visitors," Mardiana said, while inaugurating a festival to mark the 237th anniversary of the museum on Friday.

She noted that to make the visitors comfortable and feel at home, the museum would create a children?s corner and cafe, and introduce numerous interesting programs to impart knowledge.

"We will create more programs and activities to improve the quality of the museum and to educate the visitors, especially children, about its practical aspects," she said.

Mardiana pointed out that some of the programs created for children included batik making, an introduction on cultural objects, a musical theater on cultural stories, a traditional fashion workshop, and a parade of unique objects.
