REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia and Singapore have agreed to cooperate to handle cases of corruption and money theft.
The bilateral meeting was held on the sidelines of the Asia-Africa Conference between President Joko Widodo and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received here on Thursday (23/4).
In the agreement, President Joko Widodo lauded the Singaporean Government for the protection granted to Indonesian migrant workers and its citizens in Singapore.
On the occasion, President Joko Widodo also invited investors to avail investment opportunities in the field of infrastructure.
Singapore has become one of the largest contributors of foreign direct investment into Indonesia during the last five years.
In addition, the two leaders agreed to provide a wider market for agricultural products in Indonesia.
So far, Singapore is the third-largest trading partner of Indonesia, after China and Japan.
Some sectors of cooperation need to be improved and prioritized between the two countries, one of which is the development of logistics.
Meanwhile, the number of Singaporean tourists visiting Indonesia in 2014 reached 1.5 million, an increase of 10.12 percent as compared to the previous year.
