REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- A member of the House of Representatives' Commission-VIII Rahmat Hidayat express readiness to guard the development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
"We are ready to guard the development of the Mandalika Resort and the extension of Lombok International Airport's (BIL's) runway because it has long been neglected," Rahmat noted here on Wednesday (15/4).
The politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) remarked that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's commitment to commence the construction of Mandalika Resort in August 2015 and extension of BIL's runway should be lauded.
During his visit to Lombok over the weekend, President Jokowi stated that the development of the Mandalika SEZ would be accelerated.
The president noted that the central government will inject funds worth Rp250 billion in the project this year and will provide Rp1.8 trillion next year.
The funds will be given to state-owned company Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), which will manage the Mandalika project.
"Follow-up on the actions to ensure investment inflow and on-field implementation is important," the president emphasized.
Jokowi further added that this year, the runway of BIL will also be extended to three thousand meters, and the project is expected to be completed this year, so that big aircraft can land there.
With regard to the budget, he stated that he was not aware of the exact amount but had ordered airport operator PT Angkasa Pura-I to complete the project this year.
