REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA PENIDA -- Five ship crew members (ABK) and a ship captain were nabbed in the waters of Bali provincial district of Klungkung after catching lobsters and fish by using hazardous materials, an official said.
Head of the Technical Executive Unit of Marine protected area in Nusa Penida, Klungkung District I Nyoman Karyawan said here on Sunday that the ship crew members and its captain who caught fish by the using hazardous materials were arrested thanks to the information received from the community.
Karyawan said his side along with an integrated team arrested the six fishermen hailing from Tanjung Benoa, Badung District, because they used the hazardous materials in the form of "compressor".
The Fisheries Law forbids the using of compressor in catching lobster and fish.
Although the fishermen just bring the compressor when at sea, without using hazardous materials, it is not allowed.
The ship's captain identified as Mulamin and the crew members Ruslan, Rubianto, Bidin, Japar and Taufik Hidayat were arrested at the Nusa Penida.
The six fishermen confessed to have caught 30 kilograms of lobster and 50 kilogram of fish.
The coastal affairs police have been investigating the case, Karyawan added.
