REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- Papua Province will develop nine star-rated hotels in the near future in order to support the implementation of the National Sports Week XX in 2020, a hotelier said.
"In order to increase the existing hotel capacity in Papua, the province will build additional nine hotels," Indonesian Restaurant and Hotel Association (PHRI) for Papua Sahril Hasan said here on Sunday.
He said the hotels that would be developed would all be star-rated.
With additional nine hotels, hotel's room capacity in Papua will increase drastically, though it is not yet adequate to meet demand, particularly during the national sports week in 2020, he said.
Sahril said that with the development of the new hotels there will be addition of about one thousand rooms. The construction of the hotels is expected to have been finished by 2018.
The new hotels will not be located in the city and Jayapura district only but also in all regions where the national sports week's branches are to be held.
"The development of the hotels will be carried out in the regions based on the five divisional cluster areas of the sports week, namely in Biak, Jayapura City, Timika, Marauke and Wamena," he said.
