REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- Some 20 students from the Indonesian province of Jambi are still trapped in the conflict-torn Yemen because they reside in parts situated away from the conflict areas, Junaidi, the head of a Jambi representative group in Jakarta, said.

"I am coordinating with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and have information that some 20 students from Jambi in Yemen are safe and secure because they stayed in Tahrim, which is far away from the conflict areas in the country," Junaidi told Jakarta during a telephonic conversation on Saturday.

He noted that the students still felt safe and wanted to remain there, although many Indonesian citizens in Yemen had been evacuated and repatriated.

"I hope the students from Jambi in Tahrim, Yemen, would continue to coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy there and remain aware about the latest developments," Junaidi remarked.

Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the Indonesian team had managed to evacuate and repatriate another 71 citizens from Yemen as the conflict continued to escalate.

According to Nasir, the first group comprising 11 repatriated Indonesians had arrived on board a flight from Yemen via Djibouti in Jakarta on Wednesday night, while the second group of 60 evacuees would be flown into Jakarta through Salalah.

An Emirates Airlines flight from Muscat, carrying 60 citizens on board, had arrived in Jakarta at 10:30 p.m. local time.

Furthermore, Nasir remarked that there was still one group comprising of 47 people, who were attempting to get out of Yemen through Tareem and would then move towards Salalah. The group comprised of 43 Indonesians, two Britons, and two Americans.

In addition, he pointed out that there were 300 Indonesian citizens in Tareem, who were keen to be evacuated from Yemen.

"Then, there were also about 200 Indonesian citizens, who are willing to be evacuated," he stated.

Earlier, on April 4, the Indonesian evacuation acceleration team, which had departed from Jakarta on April 2, had managed to enter Tareem city through the Yemen-Oman border and had been coordinating with the Indonesian citizens located in Tareemm Al Mukalla and other cities within the Hadhramaut area to make necessary preparations for their evacuation.

One of the efforts made by the team was to convince the Indonesian citizens to leave the conflict-torn nation.
