REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Senior researcher from the Indonesian Public Institute (IPI) Karyono Wibowo said the Red and White Coalition KMP) is no longer solid as it was with the change in political constellation internally in Golkar and the United Development Party PPP).

"Practically only Gerindra and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) remains solid in KMP (which earlier called itself a permanent coalition)," Karyono said here on Tuesday.

Drastic change has also been shown by the National Mandate Party (PAN) under the new general chairman Zulkifli Hasan, he noted.

He said the political situation at present was not in favor of KMP as when it was formed in 2014 ahead of the presidential election headed by presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto who lost to Joko Widodo , now the country's president.

"The Democratic Party is also not expected to always throw its weight in support of KMP as even from the beginning it chose to be a separate force . It never was a part of the opposing coalition . It tends to see the situation first," he said.

The decision of the government to recognize Golkar under Agung Laksono served a big blow to KMP despite resistance from the rival Golkar party under Aburizal Bakrie, he said.

He said there has been an exodus of cadres who originally supported Aburizal joined the camp of Agung Laksono.

"Certainly there are still Aburizal loyalists but they are much fewer in number," he said.

Therefore, a number of agenda set by KMP at Parliament such as inquiry right against the justice and human right minister Yasonna Laoly, would most like fail, he said.
