REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan has asked the management of Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands Province, to improve its services, official said.
"According to the transportation minister, Hang Nadim airport has good facility and infrastructure, but the services to prospective airplane passengers should be improved," Batam Development Authority Chief Mustofa Widjaja said here on Saturday.
He said the minister made the statement during his working visit to Hang Nadim airport with Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.
"There is no special note of the Minister of Transportation about the airport, but he only ordered that the services be improved like that of other international airports to reduce the complaints from the consumers," Mustofa remarked.
He explained that the transportation minister positively welcomed the plan of Batam Development Authority to upgrade two domestic ports, namely Sekupang and Telaga Pungkur.
"The work on the two domestic ports will start this year, and the transportation minister positively supported it," he added.
Related to Hang Nadim airport, Mustofa explained that in the past few years it has been improved with additional waiting rooms, new boarding bridge or garbarata, and air conditioner.
"In response to the minister's call, we will make every effort to improve the airport's services to make the domestic and international passengers feel comfortable," Mustofa noted.
