REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) said it will procure 100 units of passenger coach for the electric trains in the Greater Jakarta area until 2019.

The program is for KAI to meet its target of transporting 1.2 million passengers of electric trains in the Greater Jakarta area in 2019, KAI Director Edi Sukmoro said here on Friday, March 6.

"This year we will procure 120 units of coach starting in June," Edi Sukmoro said.

Edi said additional units of coach are needed by phases to meet the growing requirement. He did not say the investment needed for the program but the price of a coach is around 1 billion IDR.
