Suspended KPK deputy chief visits Bareskrim

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Suspended deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto paid a visit to the National Police Headquarters here on Wednesday evening.

Accompanied by his lawyers, Widjojanto arrived at the Police Headquarters at 3:15 p.m. local time. He later headed to the Criminal Investigation Board (Bareskrim) building.

"Let us wait," Lelyana Santosa, Widjojanto's lawyer, remarked.

Earlier, Muji Kartika Rahayu, who is also Widjojanto's lawyer, informed the press that his client would visit the Bareskrim building on Wednesday.

"Widjojanto will come to Bareskrim," Muji stated here on Wednesday.

Muji said that it was his client's decision to visit Bareskrim.

"He did not receive any summons," she noted.

When questioned whether Widjojanto had visited the National Police Headquarters to get answers from the deputy national police chief, she replied that he might do it.

Muji noted that she had yet to receive a reply from the police regarding his client's request.

On February 24, Widjojanto and his lawyers also visited the National Police Headquarters to hand over a letter to Deputy Police Chief Comsr Gen. Badrodin Haiti and Economic and Special Crimes Director Brig. Gen. Kamil Razak.

The police have named Widjojanto as a suspect for allegedly ordering witnesses to give false testimonies in a regional head election dispute at the Constitutional Court.
