REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo has urged the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) to enhance the guidance offered to craftsmen in the form of promotions and the management of craft and artwork production.
"I hear that there is a training program for craftsmen. The guidance for craftsmen should not only include training programs but also achieve the required output," Iriana remarked while attending the 35th anniversary of Dekranas here on Tuesday (3/3).
She hoped Dekranas could provide opportunities to the craftsmen to participate at least four times in the exhibition.
"I hope the exhibition is free for participants," Iriana said.
The exhibition is expected to increase the market share of the craftsmen's artworks and boost consumer confidence in the sustainability of the products.
The First Lady also hoped that Dekranas can involve not only craftsmen from major cities but also those from the rural and hinterland areas in the country.
The Dekranas' anniversary was also attended by Head of Dekranas Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, former second lady Karlina Umar Wirahadikusumah, and former social minister Nani Soedarsono.
