REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The diversity of Indonesian arts and cultures is one of the main factors that attract Slovenians to visit Indonesia, an Indonesian diplomat said.
"Javanese arts and cultures, such as puppet shows and shadow puppet performances, are popular among Slovenians," Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in Vienna, Dody Kusumonegoro, stated here on Saturday.
He added that Indonesia's art and cultural performances always draw the attention of the Slovenian society.
Indonesia has held different art and cultural performances not only in the capital city of Ljubjana, but in other cities, such as Maribor and Bled, as well. The events are held in cooperation with various sides, both with private and government institutions.
According to Kusumonegoro, the regional government of Yogyakarta contributed a Joglo house to the Slovenian Arboretum Park, which was the first to be built in Europe.
The presence of the Joglo house adds to the appeal of the park, which is visited by more than 150 thousand tourists annually, he pointed out.
The Joglo house was inaugurated year, with the highlight of the occasion being classical Javanese dances staged by Yogyakarta Palace dancers. It was widely covered by the local media.
Last year, 3,151 Slovenian tourists visited Indonesia, which is a 25 percent increase from the 2,522 recorded in 2013.
