REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expressed optimism about winning Commissioner General Budi Gunawan's pretrial.
"Until now, we have remained optimistic. We are convinced we will win, especially after presenting several documents as evidence," chief of KPK's lawyers Chatharina Muliana Girsang said here on Friday.
Besides written documents, KPK has presented seven witnesses, four are expert witnesses and three are KPK investigators, to defend its decision to name Budi Gunawan in an alleged corruption case.
"KPK will reveal documents related to its investigation and its decision to name Budi a graft suspect," she added.
Chatharina stressed that KPK's legal team will strive to finish the court process on Friday itself so that a ruling can be issued on Monday.
Budi Gunawan had filed for a pretrial after KPK named him suspect. President Joko Widodo had to postpone Budi's inauguration as national police chief even after Parliament approved his candidacy.
