REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is yet to propose new names for the police chief's post to President Joko Widodo, Commissioner Edi Hasibuan stated here on Wednesday.

"We were scheduled to meet the president yesterday, but the meeting was cancelled," noted Edi.

However, the commissioner revealed that he had met Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Tedjo Purdijatno, and Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly on Tuesday to discuss about the new candidates for the post of police chief.

Edy expressed hope that President Jokowi will select a police chief who is able to unite the police institution and avoid conflicts either internally or with other law enforcement institutions.

It was earlier reported that the Kompolnas has finalized the names of six new candidates for the police chief's post: First Secretary of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) Commissioner General Suhardi Alius, Chief of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) Commissioner General Anang Iskandar, Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti, Commissioner General Dwi Priyatno, Commissioner General Putut Eko Bayuseno, and Commissioner General Budi Waseso.
