REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The spokesman for the National Police Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said investigators are yet to name the Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad as suspect for allegedly violating KPK officers' ethics code.
"We cannot say when or how long it will be before the investigators name him as a suspect. It all depends on proof, information from witnesses, etc.," said Rikwanto.
The case against Abraham Samad is being investigated by the police after a man named M Yusuf Sahide from an NGO, KPK Watch Indonesia, reported that Abraham Samad had allegedly met with politicians during his term as KPK Chief, which is illegal according to the KPK ethics code. The report was submitted, based on an article published by the Kompasiana blog.
Earlier, a woman had reported Abraham Samad to the National Police Criminal Investigation Board (Bareskrim) for allegedly falsifying documents.
The woman identified as Feriyani Lim had visited the Bareskrim on Sunday night (February 1). She complained against Abraham to the police for allegedly falsifying a resident identity card when he was to move to the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar from an area in the province in 2007.
Abraham was accused of falsifying documents in violation of article 93 of law number 32/2006, which was amended to law number 24 of 2013, and governs demographic administration under article 263 paragraph (2) or Article 264 of the Penal Code.
