REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Independent Team, a group established by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to solve conflict between Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Police, urges Jokowi not to install Budi Gunawan as Police Chief. The team considers that political party has pressed Jokowi to appoint Budi Gunawan.

"We suggest him not to install Budi Gunawan," the Head of Independent Team, Syafii Ma'arif, said on Wednesday, January 28.

Calling off the inauguration may lead to fraction between legislative and executive. Parliament has approved the appointment of Budi Gunawan. But, it is the risk that the president should take.

Ma'arif said that Jokowi was still considering the suggestion. The former chairman of Muhammadiyah expects Jokowi to decide before the end of the month.

Meanwhile, another member of Independent Team, Oegroseno, who is also a former deputy police chief, said that nine general had the potency as police chief. However, he refused to mention the names.
